Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital follows the sports world shared condolences for the star in the wake of the devastating accident.
