A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt ready to express about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began passing more hours together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, commenting that he could not remember "any day without mirth".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a security hold on the investigation to restrict the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a record citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
